It started in 2018 when NGI (Airline Availability Calculation) was identified to go to the cloud. After migrating all the airline traffic, our objective was to reduce the operational cost (monthly Google Cloud’s bill). Our next challenge – for which you will contribute! - is the migration of NGI from Google Cloud to the other Amadeus’ chosen cloud provider: Microsoft Azure.

In parallel of Cloud NGI, we are as well developing & operating the R-box in the team. It enables to compute the RSA flow (Reverse Seamless Availability = availability requests coming from other GDS* or 3rd parties for Altea* Airlines) in Amazon or Google Cloud, close to the customer who consumes it. We implemented a few customers and we now want to go to the next level with the industrialization of this product: optimization, automation and better reliability.

  • GDS = Global Distribution Service. The 3 main GDSs are Amadeus (EU), Sabre (US) and Travelport (US/UK)
  • Altea = Suite of IT service provided by Amadeus to Airlines. Here, we can compute air availability because we operate the airline inventory.

Cloud DevOps needed!

CAD (Cloud Availability DevOps) team mission is to deliver & operate the availability calculation software* on cloud infrastructures. Joining our team, you will work in Agile on a strategic and innovative project. It will give you the opportunity to deploy and operate performant and resilient systems (NGI-box & R-box) in the Google Cloud Engine, Amazon Web Services and next in Microsoft Azure using Cloud technologies (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Prometheus…).

You will be part of a real DevOps team with end-to-end responsibility from dev to validation, load-in-prod to prod support, tooling and automation: we currently have in the team a strong focus on 2 aspects that will be the highlights of your mission: automation and cloud migration.

  • Note: the availability calculation software itself is developed by distinct functional teams

Key accountabilities

You will contribute to:

  • Support an ultra-highly available cloud-based applicative platform for Amadeus customers.
  • Develop and use monitoring & alerting tools to find problems, resolve issues and ensure that we don’t exceed our SLAs.
  • Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - System (OS, network), platform (Openshift, Kubernetes, Docker) and application.
  • Document current and future configuration processes and policies.

About the ideal candidate

  • Engineering degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar DevOps role
  • Experince in maintenance of production env, incidents resolution
  • Knowledge of at least one major cloud provider: Google, Azure, AWS.
  • Good knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift & Python
  • Analytical thinking and good interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English mandatory
