Mission:

Drive innovation in materials engineering by developing advanced solutions for Core Turbochargers, electrification products and sustainability, while aligning with operational, customer, and cost requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead research and development initiatives in magnetic materials, metallurgy, and coatings, with a focus on automotive and electrification applications.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of structure–process–property relationships in industrial materials and coatings.
  • Identify gaps in magnetic materials and manufacturing technologies; propose and develop innovative solutions for high-performance magnets.
  • Execute metallurgical investigations, including root cause analysis and failure mode assessments.
  • Support APQP processes by resolving materials and process-related issues.
  • Propose and develop materials and processes for current and future products, ensuring alignment with industry standards and sustainability goals.
  • Apply advanced simulation tools (e.g., Thermo-Calc, ProCAST, JMatPro) to support material design and process optimization.
  • Utilize advanced characterization techniques and lab equipment for microstructural analysis and material testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners to meet project milestones and drive industrialization of cost-effective materials.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within project teams, ensuring high-quality execution and documentation.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development and participate in internal innovation and ideation events.
  • Identify and engage in open innovation opportunities with universities and research institutions.
  • Standardize materials and processes across global sites, and maintain material specifications and quality standards.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to continuously improve materials development practices.

Added advantage:

  • Expertise in electrical and magnetic materials for motors and inverters in automotive applications.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and qualification of electrical materials.
  • Strong background in physical and mechanical metallurgy, materials simulation, and advanced testing methodologies.
  • Proven ability to generate high-impact technical solutions and intellectual property.

Your profile:

  • Masters degree or PhD in Materials Engineering, preferably with 3-5 years experience in industrial R&D or technical Institute.
  • Experience in the automotive field would be valuable, with particular weight given to the subject of materials and processes including electrical and magnetic materials
  • Working knowledge of the full spectum of automotive materials (ferrous alloys, superalloys, light metals, polymers and elastomers) and coatings (eletroplating, electroless, diffusion treatments, PVD/CVD and thermal spray coatings)
  • Experience in materials analysis methodology such as metallography, optical microscopy and SEM.
  • Practical and experimental, motivated to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication, problem analysis and resolution skills (DOE approach, six-sigma methodology)
  • Ability to analyze and document technical issues and results clearly and concisely.
  • Fluent in written/spoken English and French.
  • Experience with liaising across different businesses and departments in the company, with suppliers and customers
  • Practical and experimental, motivated to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication, problem analysis and resolution skills (DOE approach, six-sigma methodology)
  • Ability to analyze and document technical issues and results clearly and concisely.
  • Fluent in written/spoken English and French.
  • Languages: English mandatory, other language skills would be beneficial
