We are seeking an experienced RAN Technical Lead with deep expertise in 4G/5G RAN deployment (Nokia & Ericsson) and Open RAN (O-RAN) solutions. This role combines technical leadership, presales support, and solution design, requiring the ability to scope projects, estimate efforts, and liaise with vendors for end-to-end RAN deployments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RAN planning, configuration, and optimization, along with commercial acumen to support bids, proposals, and customer engagements.
Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership in RAN Deployment and Site Integration
- Deploy RAN networks to provide coverage for outdoor, indoor, tunnel, and maritime environments.
- Provide solution for integrating the base station into the existing RF cabling network for in-building RF coverage and tunnel RF coverage .
- Integrating base stations with the Core Network and Transport Network, and troubleshoot interoperability issues.
- Performing base station software installation and firmware upgrades.
- Verifying alarms, resolving hardware/software and troubleshoot complex RAN layer 1/2/3 issues during integration.
- Analyze and mitigate RF interference to minimize signal degradation and ensure high-quality wireless communication services.
2. RAN Parameters Configuration
- Configure base station parameters based on the outputs from RF planning.
- Validate and adjust RF parameters (e.g., transmit power, PCI, neighbour lists) to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Collaborate with RF teams to implement RF design parameters and resolve on-ground deployment challenges.
3. RF Performance Validation:
- Conducting site verification and ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Performing call tests, throughput tests, and handover tests.
- Use tools like spectrum analyzer or scanner data to identify and resolve RF-related issues (e.g., external
- interference, poor signal quality).
4. Presales and Solution Design
- Lead technical discussions with customers to understand RAN deployment requirements (LTE/5G, O-RAN).
- Size, scope, and estimate efforts for RAN projects (e.g., site counts, hardware/software needs, timelines).
- Develop high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD) documents for RAN solutions.
- Collaborate with sales teams to create winning proposals, BoQs (Bill of Quantities), and SOWs (Statements of Work).
- Liaise with Nokia, Ericsson, and O-RAN vendors to align on product capabilities, roadmaps, and integration requirements.
5. Emerging Technology Support:
- Assist in trials for 5G NR, O-RAN, or AI-RAN solutions, leveraging LTE expertise to support seamless evolution.
- Explore AI/ML applications for predictive maintenance or dynamic resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate Should be
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in LTE/5G RAN configuration, RF design implementation, or RAN operations.
- Proficiency with LTE/5G RAN equipment and RF planning tools for indoor or outdoor RF planning
- Solid understanding of RF engineering principles, wireless communication systems, and radio access network technologies.
- Strong knowledge of LTE/5G protocols and RF principles (propagation models, link budget analysis).
- Experience using RF repeaters in the design for coverage extension and a thorough understanding of RF repeater deploying requirements.
- Familiarity with drive test tools (e.g., NEMO or TEMS) for RF performance validation.
- Familiarity with VSWR, DTF VSWR, and passive intermodulation (PIM) testing.
