Programmer/Analyst (Facilities Information Technology)

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Description

Provides support for the analysis design, estimates, development, documentation, testing and implementation of new computer programs. Provides maintenance and support for programs within existing systems. Liaison with user, technical support, training, and operations personnel. Provides technical and administrative support to the department. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability ACT (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:

  • Engages in all phases of system development/maintenance, including analysis, design, estimation, documentation, testing, and implementation, while ensuring ongoing maintenance and support for existing systems. This includes writing code for websites, enabling database access and business logic processing.
  • Develops, plans, and designs client applications, including writing and debugging stored procedures and complex queries. Extracts, calculates, and manipulates database information to generate reports and create data visualizations.
  • Accurately documents system issues and provides well-researched solution recommendations to resolve technical problems efficiently.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Experience with 4-D, eBuilder, TMA, or EnergyCAP is a plus but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and positive working relationships.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies, including configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of network security principles, ensuring secure system operations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server operating systems, including administration and maintenance.
  • Detail oriented
  • Organizational skills
  • Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring reliable technical support and effective problem resolution.

Starting Hourly Rate: $47,665.00 - $60,000.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Experience with one or more high-level programming languages, coupled with a strong

understanding of computer hardware and software principles. Proven ability to interface effectively with users, providing technical support and ensuring smooth system functionality.

  • SQL Server 2005-2008 (including SQL Reporting Services)
  • Web Development Certification (XML/XHTML)
  • Visio for DB Modeling
  • Adobe Creative Suite v. 5

  • Windows Mobile 6
  • JAVA
  • VMware ESX

Independent Judgement/Problem Solving

  • Carriers out duties within the scope of University policies and procedures. Analyzes problems, adapts guidelines, and exercises independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that impact policies, procedures, and practices referring exceptions to the supervisor.

Customer Service Relationships

  • Handles challenging customer situations with tact and diplomacy. Uses advanced interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships. Finds creative solutions to meet customer needs.

MVR:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

PERSONAL:

Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:

  • Lifting and carrying a minimum of twenty (20) pounds
  • Climbing stairs
  • Performing tasks requiring bending, standing, stooping, kneeling and extensive walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Working within extreme temperature ranges.
