As a leader of this space, you will dive deep to understand Amazon's cloud architecture and identify opportunities for innovations. You will partner with network engineering, software teams and other AWS service teams to design the next generation of commodity network devices and integrate these into highly scalable, deployable and maintainable systems. You’ll work with ODM and CM suppliers to evaluate existing designs and work towards developing cost-effective and innovate custom designs that meet Amazon networking requirements. Your work will delight our customers and disrupt the networking industry.

Key job responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, defining the vision and road-map of the teams, hiring and developing the team, technology leadership, operational excellence, communicating to senior leadership and customers. This is an amazing opportunity in terms of responsibility, interesting challenges and high visibility.

  • Drive the design adoption of the latest Electrical optical technologies in AWS.
  • Guide our suppliers to meet Amazon’s Interconnect needs through design, clear articulation of our requirements, deep audit, testing, and engineering new ways to solve problems.
  • Interact with customers and service teams to understand requirements and define solutions.
  • Collaborate with server engineering and operations teams to innovate across our infrastructure.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering optical and electrical interconnect solutions
  • 10+ years of experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • 10+ years of experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
  • 10+ years of experience driving the technology roadmap and quality of third-party suppliers, and in working with supply chain/procurement teams to select the right supply approach

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams
  • Experience driving ODM and CM suppliers of optics and HW development Experience in System architectural design
  • Experience working directly with senior-level customer engineers
  • PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $187,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $324,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
