Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distinguished Staff Engineer for Acoustics to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, analysis, optimization, and testing of acoustic components for our commercial engine programs. This position requires a deep understanding of acoustic principles, regulatory requirements, computational aero-acoustics, and the ability to apply these skills and knowledge to improve the GE Aerospace product portfolio.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the acoustic design, analysis, and testing of aircraft engine components.
- Direct and utilize computational aero-acoustic analyses to simulate and optimize acoustic performance in turbomachinery.
- Conduct experimental testing and validation of acoustic components and models.
- Design and execute testing protocols to evaluate acoustic performance.
- Analyze test data and refine analytical models based on experimental results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Aerodynamics, Engine Systems, Mechanical Design, Thermal Systems to integrate and optimize acoustic designs in a product configuration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in acoustics and apply innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Build and maintain knowledge of the competitive landscape in acoustic design, testing, and analysis.
- Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Acoustics.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Characteristics
- At least 15 years of demonstrated experience in aircraft engine Acoustics.
- Proficiency in computational aero-acoustics application & optimization.
- Expert understanding of acoustic principles and their application to jet engine components.
- Strong background with experimental testing and data analysis.
- Direct FAA Part 36/EASA Annex 16 Volume I Community noise certification experience.
- Direct FAA/EASA acoustic regulatory experience.
- No Acoustic Change and acoustic family plan experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of aircraft-engine noise sources & interactions.
- Demonstrated understanding of open fan/open rotor noise experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of turboprop noise experience.
- Demonstrated ability to execute complex programs/projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in complex organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complicated scientific problems.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop technical talent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
