The Evendale Defense Combat Propulsion organization provides technical oversight, design ownership and improved capability for F110, F101, F118, TF34, TFx product families across the entire engine life cycle, closely supporting the Edison Works (EW) Next Generation Product (NGP) portfolios. We are a dedicated engineering team committed to providing high quality design and customer support for these product families, including production and field support, component improvement, technology insertions, new platform installations and product cost strategies.

As Systems Performance Operability Controls Transient (SPOCT) Leader, you will ensure comprehensive integration of the engine operation across the performance and controls disciplines. Additionally you will provide critical leadership across the EDCP Systems organization and with our USAF and Global Customers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execution for SPOCT (Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls & Transients)
    • Lead / Participate Field Investigation TOPS8D
    • Troubleshooting engine operation in fielded aircraft,
    • Understand fleet performance and maintenance trends, particularly in challenging (hot and harsh) environments.
    • Understand the impact of part non-conformances and determining if parts can be used in the field.
    • Support field safety assessments
    • Support the design of new turbomachinery by evaluating the Performance and Operability impacts
    • Provide guidance on field actions – control plans and field hardware campaigns
  • Translate Engine Requirements to Systems Requirements at a (Flange to Flange) level includes:
    • SPOCT Configuration and interface aspects
    • Engine Cost
    • Engine Weight
  • Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position related to systems, controls, performance within the aerospace industry.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
