Hitachi Energy is currently looking for Project Engineering Team Leader for the Transformers Business to join their team in Kartal/Dilovasi, İstanbul/Kocaeli,Türkiye. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual.
How you will make an impact:
- Technical contribution: Takes technical oversight of work within own area of responsibility, holds regular progress reviews, identifies and manages technical issues that occur. Defines operating guidelines and development strategies for direct reports, providing them with technical guidance.
- Customer: Ensures team builds a culture of identifying and satisfying customer needs to support business growth. Drives development of processes and practices based on customer feedback. Provides engineering support during the bid phase, ensuring that the required resources to deliver the technical solutions are correctly accounted for (e.g. the requirements for safety, technical competence, quality, schedule and cost).
- Contract management: Takes contractual oversight for work within own area of responsibility, holds regular progress reviews, identifies contractual issues and reports early to management with recommendations for resolution.
- Planning and control: Ensures the correct allocation of assignments and tasks within the team, defining relevant performance metrics (e.g. technical compliance, schedule,cost, quality and safety standards). Creates work plans and cost estimates for work in own area of responsibility. Proactively manages the engineering team to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality and at the targeted cost.
- Risk and opportunity management: Ensures completion of risk assessments and opportunity assessments (e.g. variation orders and claims) and implementation of resulting actions across projects.
- Supply chain management: Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that the correct suppliers of services and equipment are available to support the engineering activities.
- Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Ensures operation of process to gather and share technical knowledge within the engineering team.
- Processes and tools: Initiates and drives continuous improvement activities. Develops, implements and improves relevant processes, policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the Engineering function.
- Ensures local procedures align with company policies, processes and
- procedures and are correctly implemented.
- People leadership and development: Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, coaches and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR polices.
- Finance and budget: Participates in defining the annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.

Your Background
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10 or more years of industry experience of leading an engineering team responsible for electrical engineering applied to Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors is plus (preferably 400kV/500kV product range).
- Working experience of leading transformer cost optimization and competitiveness improvement projects will be preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and productivity tools (SAP, engineering design tools, PLM – product lifecycle management) will be preferred.
- Exposure to engineering quality improvement tools such as Statistical analysis of NCs, design and test parameters, Six Sigma tools, managing customer complaints will be an added plus.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
