POSITION: Sr. Process Engineer

JOB DUTIES: Provide process engineering services to the systems business for highly complex projects. Prepare conceptual process designs, computer simulations, equipment designs, technical proposals, process descriptions, and operating and start-up instructions. Participate in HAZOP studies and lead plant start-ups for highly complex projects. Support Sales / Market Managers, Applications Engineers and Operations as needed. Evaluate customer inquiries to ensure they are in line with capabilities and contain all information required to submit a quotation. Liaise with customers to obtain any missing information. Collect physical property, vapor/liquid equilibrium, and plant operating data required to complete process designs for highly complex applications. Conduct basic process design for highly complex process applications, including computer simulations, PFD and Heat and Material Balance, and P&ID. Prepare design/operating details for pilot studies for highly complex applications. Interpret results of pilot test studies and/or operating data from commercial / industrial plants for highly complex applications. Conduct detailed process design of highly complex equipment such as columns, including the selection of column internals, vessels, heat exchangers and pumps. Prepare equipment/process data/specification sheets. Prepare instrument list with key process data. Prepare process descriptions, including functional design specifications, alarm and interlock matrixes, and operating instructions. Prepare commercial and technical proposals for highly complex systems. Prepare FAT/SAT protocol, pre-commissioning checks, and Commissioning/Start-up Plans. Lead FAT/SAT, Plant inspection, Commissioning & Start-up, and troubleshooting from process side at site, including Performance Guarantee completion for highly complex applications. Lead R&D for new products, processes and applications. Serve as subject matter expert and technical consultant. Assist in the development of new engineers in all quoting/order activities. Review and approve Process deliverables prepared by other Process/Application Engineers. Participate in client meetings. Participate in industry technical forums. Respond to questions and inquiries from the customer regarding technical problems and issues that arise and provide technical support or assistance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Eight (8) years of experience as Chemical Engineer or Chemical Process Engineer; Applications Technology Engineer or Manager, or Applications Engineer. The required experience must have included design engineering for refinery applications, interpretation of customer requirements for refinery applications, and the preparation of customer proposals for refinery applications.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Up to 20% domestic and/or international travel required.
