Job Description

The College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications for a temporary Communications & Marketing Coordinator to begin as soon as possible with the potential opportunity to become a permanent position. This position will provide communication and marketing day-to-day support to the Director of Communications and Marketing of CECS with social media communications, website management, publications, and other defined projects. Additionally, this position will support events and other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

Social Media & Website:

  • Creates and manages digital content on various marketing channels, including social media to further the outreach goals of CECS - ensuring content is timely and relevant.
  • Monitors social media channels and responds to evolving trends to elevate CECS online presence.
  • Manages social media posts ensuring consistency and proper branding for CECS.
  • Manages and updates CECS website ensuring content is relevant, consistent, and proper branding is used.
  • Assists with tracking of CECS website metrics to understand traffic and user journey flow on websites.

Publications:

  • Designs and creates needed publications per the direction of CECS Director of C&M.
  • Writes and provides editing support for all forms of CECS written content: CECS stories, news releases, social media, features, flyers, internal stories, annual reports and other presentations, promotional materials, newsletters, and more.

Other:

  • Assist CECS Director of C&M with any needed projects, assignments, and events.
  • Ensure all CECS content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, optimized for search, and adapted for multiple platforms.
  • Collaborates with CECS Marketing Student Assistants as needed and per direction of CECS Director of C&M
  • Contributes to creative brainstorming and content planning as needed.
  • Assists with Email Marketing & Communications and building a CECS email campaign.
  • Assists with photography and video production as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of marketing and/or communications experience
  • Effective and excellent oral and written communication to various audiences
  • Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Basic Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud experience
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to organize work, multi-task, and manage multiple, pressing deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with Higher Education marketing and communication practices
  • Experience with UT policies and procedures
  • Experience with analytics and reporting
  • Knowledge of SEO and SEM
  • Knowledge of paid media placements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to manage tasks and time effectively
  • Skills in a variety of graphic design software tools
  • Skills in effective written communication relevant to a variety of media (social media, long form narrative, digital and hard copy postings, award announcements, celebration recaps, etc.)
  • Skills and abilities in verbal communication with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision making
  • Ability to manage multiple projections simultaneously
  • Knowledge and ability to work effectively as a team
  • Knowledge and ability to proofread documents for accuracy
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to create printed and electronic documents
  • Knowledge of design principles and basic photographic skills
