Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative AV CAD Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience creating detailed AutoCAD (or Revit) drawings for AV system designs and layouts. This person will work closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to develop accurate and comprehensive design documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed AV system drawings including floor plans, rack elevations, signal flow diagrams, and schematics
  • Interpret project requirements, site surveys, and specifications to develop accurate CAD documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure designs align with scope and client needs
  • Update drawings throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes or field conditions
  • Maintain drawing standards and file management practices
  • Support submittal packages and as-built documentation

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in CAD drafting within the AV
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Revit and Bluebeam experience a plus
  • Understanding of AV systems including displays, audio systems, control systems, and infrastructure
  • Ability to read construction drawings and architectural plans
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AVIXA standards and best practices
  • Experience working with engineering teams or integrators
  • CTS certification or similar is a plus

Physical Demands

This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.

Work Environment

This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
