Job Objective:
Provides frontline basic support (adds, moves and changes) for the Eisenhower networking environment which includes switches, routers and wi-fi, along with support of end users dependent upon those networking services. Participates in on-call after hours support and works with other engineers for work queue assignments.

Required: Associate’s degree in Information Technology or an additional two (2) years of applicable experience in lieu of associate’s degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Network +, Security + or equivalent certification
Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) Routing & Switching or equivalent certification
Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of Information Technology experience or completion of Networking rotation through Eisenhower Apprenticeship program

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability to create, edit and troubleshoot network devices (VoIP phones, fax machines, etc.) in a Cisco environment, Ability to create and maintain positive interpersonal relations with peers, staff, leaders and vendors, Ability to create thorough technical documentation, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Basic understanding of IP networking principles, Knowledge of Cisco CLI for device management, Written and verbal communication skills
Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Checks work queues often and updates and updates completed requests within 24 hours.
3. Participate in on-call, weekend, and after-hours support for network and voice environment.
4. Notifies customers of the status of tickets and project tasks.
5. Performs written and oral status reporting on a regular basis as needed or as requested.
6. Effectively communicates with network team, IT staff members, vendors and customers.
7. Documents network infrastructure changes in JIRA and notifies appropriate staff.
8. Collaborates with Network Team to plan emergency changes.
9. Follows network diagrams and support documentation; updates documents under the direction and approval of level II or III engineers.
10. Removes retired or decommissioned hardware following established processes.
11. Sanitizes (wipes) all decommissioned network hardware.
12. Labels equipment per standards.
13. Notifies Network team if PAR levels are low or high; communicates purchasing needs; prepares (organizes, labels, stocks, unboxes, etc.) inventory for projects and deployment.
14. Addresses basic network problems.
15. Assists with network software updates as requested.
16. Reports issues to vendors (Cisco and others) as needed.
17. Performs project related networking tasks for network initiatives.
18. May be assigned to run small network initiative with oversight.
19. Notifies network team of any issues that could relate to negative customer satisfaction, network instability, or degraded performance.
20. Responsible for installing (rack and stack) network equipment based on templates and standards.
21. Provides Tier 1 troubleshooting for VLANs/Trunks/Layer-3 SVI/Wi-Fi coverage assessments.
22. Provides basic network support (IP assignments, port and VLAN assignments, IDF cable patching and cleanup).
23. Performs network work at the access layer.
24. Installs and deinstalls IDF UPS's; installs replacement batteries
25. Installs Wireless Access Points under direction of level II / III engineers with cabling vendor.
26. May help with basic VoIP duties alongside Telecommunications team members.
27. Performs other duties as assigned.
