Mechanical Engineer – Gas/Steam Turbine and Plant Performance Engineer

Your new role

As our new Mechanical Engineer – Gas/Steam Turbine and Plant Performance Engineer, you will join a global group of specialists working across the energy value chain. You will lead complex infrastructure projects that integrate gas and steam turbine technologies, supporting utilities, developers, and investors to deliver reliable and efficient power generation assets aligned with climate goals.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Thermodynamic Modelling
  • Develop thermodynamic models of cogeneration/combined cycle power plants using (GTs, HRSGs, STs, cooling systems) design information and/or operating plant data.
  1. System Design and Optimization
  • Design and optimize cogeneration/combined cycle plant heat and mass balance diagrams, functional specifications for main plant mechanical equipment, and performance predictions.
  • Interface with engineering teams to develop product and plant configurations.
  1. Gas/Steam Turbine Performance Analysis
  • Evaluate thermal performance metrics such as power output, heat rate, stage pressures, temperatures, and component efficiencies.
  • Conduct diagnostic analyses of operational data to identify performance losses, utilizing both steady-state and transient data.
  1. Field Testing and Data Collection
  • Perform corrections of test data to reference conditions and prepare performance test reports in compliance with standards such e.g. as ASME PTC 22 or ISO 2314
  • Implement quality control procedures for engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in field performance testing of steam/gas turbines and combined cycles, collecting and evaluating performance data against stability criteria.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with combined cycle power plant operations and equipment.
  • Familiarity with biomass power plants operations and equipment is an advantage
  • Experience in gas turbine performance testing and analysis, including field testing and data evaluation.
  • Knowledge of gas and /or steam turbine engineering, including turbine configuration and design.
  • Proficiency in thermodynamic modelling software (e.g., Thermoflow, Hysys, NPSS, GateCycle, Ebsylon).
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (especially local and German) are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for site supervision and stakeholder coordination (mostly remote work).
