Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior CAD Engineer to lead the mechanical design and 3D modeling of our liquid cooling solutions. This role involves translating conceptual product designs into manufacturable CAD models, creating detailed drawings, and supporting cross-functional engineering teams from prototyping through production. You will be key in the development of our two-phase cold plate, immersion tanks, and rack-level infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage high-fidelity CAD models (SolidWorks preferred) for cold plates, immersion tanks, manifolds, CDU enclosures, and structural components.
- Generate manufacturing-ready 2D technical drawings with proper tolerances and GD&T.
- Work closely with thermal, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure functional and thermal performance requirements are met.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to refine designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and prototype testing processes.
- Own version control and documentation for all mechanical design files.
- Develop BoMs, fabrication drawings, and exploded views for assembly manuals.
- Support rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining) and perform tolerance stack-ups.
- Assist in packaging analysis for racks and modules and in system-level integration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree/ Master's Preferred in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in CAD design of mechanical components and assemblies, ideally in electronics cooling, thermal systems, or data center infrastructure.
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Deep knowledge of mechanical design principles, including GD&T, sheet metal, plastics, and castings.
- Familiarity with thermal system components (cold plates, heat exchangers, manifolds).
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFA practices.
- Experience in PLM systems (e.g., Arena, Windchill) and change control processes.
Preferred:
- Experience with liquid cooling, two-phase systems, or immersion cooling.
- Knowledge of electrochemical additive manufacturing (ECAM) or other advanced fabrication methods.
- Familiarity with ASME standards and regulatory certifications for mechanical systems.
- Experience working in fast-paced startups or product-driven R&D environments.
