Job Purpose

To support design development starting from concept phase until design release, through FEA simulation sults for developing an optimal design. The main products where the employee will be requested to work are the following Platforms:

a) Crawler and Mini Excavators (CHEX-MHEX)

b) Telescopic handlers (TLH)

c) Compact wheel loaders ( CWL)

d) Motor graders (GRD)

e) Wheel and compact loaders (WL-CWL)

f) Skid steer crawler track loaders (SSL-CTL)

g) Vibratory compactors (VC)

h) Tractors backhoe loaders (TLB)

The FEA-Virtual Analysis Specialist will execute simulations to validate components and / or systems using FEA tools.

The employee will be requested to perform following analysis type:

1) Static FE analysis, linear and not linear (mainly isotropic materials)

2) Random vibration analysis

3) Weld fatigue analysis (spot weld, seam weld)

4) Parent material strength and durability analysis

5) Durability analysis, using specific fatigue codes (NCode)

6) Knowledge of structural optimization tools

7) Strain gauges and accelerometer test data processing

Key Responsibilities

  • Support during concept phase and final virtual validations of mechanical components and/or systems for construction machinery vehicles (all excavators, graders, telehandlers, compact wheel loaders)
  • Perform structural (linear, non linear, dynamic) calculations using FEA tools or calculation spreadsheet.
  • Prepare the FE models in according to DA&S simulation procedures.
  • Determine structural loads to be used for the FEA validation, by specific analysis tool or by hand calculation.
  • Provide design proposals to Engineering team to improve or optimize the structural behavior of components/systems
  • Simulation tasks management through Integrated Validation Plan and CTS system.

Experience Required

Bachelor or Master Degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, or equivalent

1-2 years of professional industry experience in machinery industry, automotive or aerospace will be considered as a plus

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of structural analysis and mechanical systems

Knowledge of fatigue principles in parent material and welds; fatigue behaviors for plastics and polymers will be considered as a plusKnowledge of, Optistruct, Abaqus, or other similar commercial FEA solvers

Knowledge of surface and volume mesh preparation using Hypermesh

Knowledge of Ncode would be an advantage

Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a International team

Ability to work from remote location will be required

Excellent knowledge of English (both verbal and written), certification would be an advantage

Availability to Domestic and International travel.
