Patient Access Representative

Location: Adena Health System - Western Ave, Chillicothe, OH

Job Type: Full time, 100%, day shift

Position Summary:

The Patient Access Representative plays a key role in delivering a positive patient experience by facilitating efficient and accurate registration, scheduling, and insurance verification for all services across Adena Health System. This individual is the first point of contact for patients and is essential in ensuring a smooth and timely care process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts in-person and phone-based registration, scheduling, and pre-registration using systems such as Meditech and eCW
• Collects and verifies demographic, insurance, and financial information to support accurate billing and claims processing
• Ensures all required pre-certifications and authorizations are completed and documented
• Uses electronic tools to confirm active insurance coverage and generate cost estimates for services
• Secures patient signatures and required documents during registration and uploads them into the imaging system
• Validates orders, diagnosis codes, and medical necessity for scheduled services
• Collaborates closely with clinical staff in emergency, outpatient, and clinic settings to support timely patient care
• Handles all incoming hospital switchboard calls and appropriately transfers calls
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills in a dynamic healthcare environment
• Maintains a team-focused approach, contributing to department performance and patient satisfaction goals

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare clerical, administrative, or customer service role
• Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC use
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and deliver excellent service in a fast-paced setting
