About the Role:

This role will be part of the America’s Corporate Indirect Tax team, primarily focusing on audit defense and providing indirect tax technical advice to internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and manage several audits simultaneously, showcasing a deep understanding of indirect tax regulations to support and uphold eBay’s tax positions. The candidate must possess strong analytical skills, the capacity for innovative and quick thinking, and a dedication to improving existing processes and procedures. Success in this role also requires the ability to cultivate positive relationships within the Tax department and across the broader organization, offering tax advice to key partners, and assisting the business in meeting eBay’s tax obligations.

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Lead and manage US and Canada indirect tax audits
  • Deliver timely and accurate indirect tax advice to business units
  • Analyze complex tax issues and provide tax advice on strategic planning initiatives, legislative developments, and other ad hoc matters
  • Assist with M&A due diligence and integration support as needed
  • Collaborate and coordinate with a variety of eBay teams, including product, engineering, legal, accounting, finance, and customer service
  • Manage internal audit initiatives while focusing on taxability improvements and scalable exemption certificate solutions
  • Build playbooks and memos that detail our tax policy, position, and procedures
  • Assist with developing training material to be deployed to key functions within the business
  • Manage relationships with external advisors as necessary
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to members of the team

What You Will Bring:

  • 7+ years of technical indirect tax experience gained in public accounting and/or e-Commerce industry
  • Dedicated to working our Hybrid Model with 3 days per week onsite in our Austin, TX office
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Tax, Legal, or Accounting; advanced degree is preferred
  • CMI certification or CPA preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of sales and use taxes in the United States required
  • Working knowledge of Canada, Mexico, and emerging markets in South America a plus
  • Proven track record of leading and managing multiple ongoing state and local tax audits
  • Experience detailing legislative impacts on the business, tax positions, and audit findings
  • Demonstrated success in ability to explain sophisticated tax issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience with the indirect taxation trends of the digital economy
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, get it done attitude
  • Ability to successfully work with various teams across multiple time zones

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$90,400 - $157,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
