What You Will Do

The Materials Science & Technology Group 8 is seeking a highly motivated post-master's student with strong background in computer science and data science to develop advanced data acquisition and analysis pipeline for multiscale mechanical characterization from nanoscale to mesoscale. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple national programs aimed at understanding deformation and failure in materials.

The successful student will have strong knowledge of Python programming, image analysis, data science, automation, labVIEW and machine learning. The student will be working in a highly interdisciplinary team with diverse background. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, team-oriented, and communicative.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Strong background in Python programing, LabVIEW, PyQT
• Demonstrated experience of developing automated data acquisition and analysis pipeline.
• Strong background in data science.

Education/Experience: Master's degree in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline completed within the last 2 years.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with graph-based analysis
• Strong background in numerical methods and mathematical analyses
• Strong background in C++ programing
• Experience with digital image correlation, scanning electron microscopy data, and multimodal data

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.
