Structural Engineer – Intermediate (Staff Level)

Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering work of intermediate complexity in support of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
As a Staff Structural Engineer, you will work under the supervision of a Discipline Lead or Area Lead Engineer and contribute to project success through specification development, engineering analysis, material recommendations, and coordination across project disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and recommend technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity per project requirements.
- Develop and review engineering specifications and design criteria.
- Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations for materials, equipment, and systems.
- Coordinate technical issues with project management, other disciplines, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan, scope, budget, and schedule.
- Track and report key material quantities; provide cost and forecast analysis.
- Support procurement and subcontracting efforts through technical bid evaluations and vendor submittal reviews.
- Provide engineering support during construction phases, including responding to RFIs and field changes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of work-related experience in structural engineering.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards (including DOE orders).
- Proficient in technical communication with clients, coworkers, and vendors.
- Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under time constraints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience supporting EPC services in commercial or industrial projects.
- Experience with 3D modeling and 2D CADD tools in a multi-discipline environment.
Discipline-Specific Requirements:
- Proficiency in performing structural calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel.
- Experience using one or more of the following software: STAAD, STAADPro, RISA-3D.
- Intermediate proficiency in Mathcad.
- Familiarity with:
- Structural modeling and analysis.
- Wind, seismic, and dynamic loading.
- Blast design principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience designing systems, structures, and components under ASME NQA-1 requirements.
- Field experience on EPC projects.
- Experience supporting projects for:
- U.S. Department of Energy or other federal agencies.
- Nuclear facilities under nuclear QA programs.
- Pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or biotech industries.
- Proficiency in STAADPro and Mathcad.
