As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you’ll architect and deliver full-stack web applications in a highly dynamic, agile environment. You’ll work as an individual contributor and collaborate cross-functionally with product owners and team members to bring digital solutions to life. With deep exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks and cloud-native infrastructure, your impact will be critical to the performance, scalability, and integration of software solutions across Moderna’s platforms. You’ll lead by example in test strategy, engineering rigor, and delivery excellence, and engage closely with initiatives leveraging Generative AI capabilities to shape next-gen digital workflows.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Designing and developing full-stack web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Leading the implementation of software engineering best practices across coding, testing, and automation.
  • Collaborating closely with product owners to understand user and business needs and translate them into effective software solutions.
  • Delivering clean, scalable, and resilient application code within a modern DevOps environment.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Contributing to multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced agile setup.
  • Conducting code reviews and implementing comprehensive unit and integration test strategies.
  • Monitoring and analyzing application performance to ensure operational excellence.
  • Integrating newly developed software with existing systems to enhance automation and analytics capabilities.
  • Supporting and evolving applications within Moderna’s cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Participating in and influencing the adoption of Generative AI tools across internal platforms and workflows.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in full-stack web application development.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React) and backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Express.js, or Nest.js).
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and writing SQL queries.
  • Experience in testing frameworks such as Jest and Cypress.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). AWS preferred.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in life sciences, biotech, or other scientific fields.
  • Experience with RESTful API design, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and documenting technical systems.
  • Experience in a regulated environment.
