Caterpillar Inc. seeks Electric Components Sr. Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523.
Responsible for high voltage connectors as well as charge port connectors on Caterpillar machines. Responsible for new product development and technology selection, defining and verifying requirements, supplier collaborative product and process development, component validation, new product development and new technology introduction, project advancement, product and production support, cost reduction, continuous product improvement, and component life-cycle management. Responsible for completing all development and maintenance process steps while working closely with internal machine and engine systems. Process partners include machine and engine systems teams and prime products groups, CAT electrical systems integration, global purchasing team, parts aftermarket and remanufacturing, and regulation conformance representatives. Conception and the application practical product design expertise to problem solve by applying complex technical principles. Prepare concepts, designs, and feasibility studies. Draft and execute development plans in concert with the timing needs of product groups. Within the scope of NPI workflow ensure that all of CAT ICS’ L2/L1 NPI and APQP process elements are completed. Act as development team lead, interacting with system teams, plant locations, suppliers and purchasing to ensure development commitments are met. Plan and coordinate product testing in concert with system needs. Coordinate supplier evaluations, production readiness reviews and facilitate other required supplier development activities. Travel Requirements: 10% Domestic travel to suppliers & client facilities. Telecommuting: 2 days/week.
REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Applied Engineering and Technology Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field plus six (6) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer or a related occupation in the field of earthmoving equipment, diesel engine, and generator set development or high voltage system or related product manufacturing industry.
Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: 1) Project management with multi-facetted projects; 2) Supplier CPPD and project collaboration component development; 3) Leading collaboration discussions through FMEA, DV Planning, APQP, and NPI in preparation for PPAP and Start of Production; 4) Engaging with suppliers in design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) to optimize performance, reliability, and cost; 5) Component design including full life-cycle responsibility from inception to service.
Summary Pay Range:
$122,325.00 - $165,840.00
