Job Purpose
To lead Process Safety initiatives and to facilitate application of engineering principles to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of plants, transportation, applications and supply chain activities with the objective to reduce or eliminate the potential for release of energy or inventory that could harm our employees, the public, or the environment as well to sustain our business in the sub regions.
Nature and Scope
This job holder is a key member of Asia Process Safety team with direct responsibilities for Process Safety activities in Taiwan. The person will report to Asia Process Safety Manager. The job holder also has to network with other sub regional and central process safety team for various process safety activities.
The Regional Process Safety team’s mission is to “Consistently support the stakeholders for the application of process safety standards, tools, programs, trainings, work processes and help in implementing them to prevent all future process safety incidents”.
We will do this with “A highly motivated, professional and diverse process safety team across the sub regions with broader cross-functional knowledge“.
The Process Safety Engineer facilitates the use of Air Products, Asia JV/Sub and local regulatory process safety, fire protection related standards/policies by working closely with Plant Operation team, Supply chain, Engineering and commercial teams to provide the process safety deliverables and engineering solutions that are cost effective, feasible and meet with the Asia Process Safety goals.
The job activities span a wide range of business areas within Industrial Gas Business which include, Air separation units, Package Gases, Specialty Gases, Hydrogen plants, Gas Applications, Distributions, Supply Chain and liquefied natural gas units, etc..
At our existing operating plants, the job holder facilitates or assists the operating team to implement the Process Safety Management Program and audit the performance of PSM elements and respective work processes. The objective is to ensure that all Process Safety Management elements are properly implemented to reduce or eliminate the potential for release of energy or material so that business continuity and loss prevention is ensured. During the engineering and execution of a project, the Process Safety engineer is an integral part of the project team and is responsible for Process Safety engineering deliverables. The job holder provides appropriate input, guidance, or information to other engineering and design disciplines, and supports the commissioning and startup of the plant as required. The job holder also supports due diligence activities for prospective merger and acquisitions, as well as post merger integration of process safety requirements.
The Process Safety engineer leads or performs Hazard Reviews, Qualitative risk analysis, Quantitative risk analysis, Mechanical integrity consulting, Safety integrated system analysis, Management of change, Process safety management, Operational readiness inspection, Security vulnerability assessment, Compliance Audit, and Process Safety training, and etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Job Incumbent is expected to have Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. Advanced degree is preferred.
2. Job incumbent is expected to have at least 7-10 years of experience in Industrial Gases or Petrochemicals or Chemical or related industry in process engineering or plant engineering. Hands-on experience and understanding in process engineering such as P&ID’s, safety relief demand scenarios, and basic function of unit operations is required. Experience in equipment monitoring, instrumentation, process control, Process Optimization and Occupational safety is a plus. Experience in multi-national companies having excellent Process Safety culture is desirable.
3. Job Incumbent is expected to have good engineering problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, Passion to Process Safety field and enthusiasm about his/her mission. Having good leadership skills is a major plus for this position. Local Language (Mandarin) and written and speaking English skills required.
