The Role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a progressive opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, where you will utilise your skills and enthusiasm to design, develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain.

Day-to-day, you’ll be working within a supportive team environment, where you will use your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain. You will be deployed direct to role and will use your on-the-job experiences and training to make a real difference for our customers.

• Responsible for checking and desirably approving of most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions.
• Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
• Defining test instructions along with reviewing and interpreting results.
• Perform and report on root cause analysis and fault finding, along with detailing and proving solutions.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Principal Mechanical Engineer

• Demonstrable experience of the non-conformance and change request processes.
• Proficient with use of PLM and CAD packages (TeamCenter and NX or Vault and Inventor experience would be advantageous).
• Full lifecycle engineering experience.

Qualifications for the Principal Mechanical Engineer

• Mechanical Engineering Degree, or HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security check once in post.
