The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for this position will provide technical leadership and oversee laboratory/ manufacturing support of multiple 3M Divisions, products, processes, and systems such as answering customer complaints and working with the team on corrective actions. They are also responsible for advising, consulting and troubleshooting product and processes at the plant.

As the Product/Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most creative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Driving existing product quality enhancement through use of continuous improvement methods and tools, such as: Six Sigma, Product and Process Understanding (PPU), Design of Experiments (DOE), Customer Quality Index (CQI) and Quality at the Source.
• Supporting and interacting with customers and suppliers through complaint investigations, resolution, and trending.
• Ensuring the commercialized product design intent and product integrity is retained as materials, processes, methods, and specifications change.
• Supporting change as it relates to design changes inspired by quality improvement, source of supply changes, or cost reduction efforts.
• Trouble shooting, investigating, and analyzing for non-conforming product testing and disposition.
• Validating product claims through product testing and lab oversight.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start).

OR

• High School diploma/GED or higher and a minimum of five (5) years of quality or engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Advanced experience in a quality function, manufacturing/production plant, and/or reactive chemistries environment
• Experience running small scale investigative experimentation in a laboratory or pilot plant
• Deep emphasis on applied statistical applications and continuous improvement methodologies
• Support and/or lead efforts on life cycle management, risk management, product and process improvements, and other product documentation effort
• Knowledge and experience with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) including SCARs and supplier management.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $98,413 - $120,282, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
