Caterpillar Inc. seeks ELEC SYS V&V Sr. Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Dr, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
Accountable for contributing to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in a discipline for which the beneficiary is beginning to build a reputation as an expert in V&V testing. Work more directly with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams and begin enhancing general and business skills. Decisions will significantly impact on product performance, durability, quality, reliability, and serviceability, negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, total cost of non-quality, costs, sales, and customer perception. Responsible for Test/Validation include demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Perform complex analysis work and expected to bear significant responsibility for completion of a project with major focus on delivery. Direct contact with products, machines, or components while working in the field or at customer sites or may have direct contact with suppliers and customers to develop processes or resolve problems. Responsibility may include any or all of the following: evaluate products and processes; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technical information to dealers, customers, team members, suppliers, and other units; support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers; and develop and maintain keen understanding of internal and external customers’ needs. Manage their own development in verification and validation, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. Key skills to be developed at this level are data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods. Designs and develops effective strategies and test plans to assure functionality of the complex systems in conjunction with system specifications from CRMs and CECOs. Conduct software HIL (hardware in the loop) testing using FAST and dSPACE:PH system to support unit as well as integration testing, verification and validation of the multiple small and large GAS engines (CG137, G3600A4, G3500) on A4E4, A3, ITSM, ICSM, A4 ISM ECMs Actuators: CTS, GBTJ, BOV, P-series, F-series. Conduct software HIL (hardware in the loop) testing using dSPACE: PH and, Scalexio system and VPD (virtual product development) tools to support unit as well as integration testing, verification and validation of the multiple small and large GAS engines:CG18 EP/Petro, G3500, G3600Uprates with ICPS, G3400, EMD, DGB, CG32 HR on A4E4, A6E5, A4 ISM ECMs Actuators: HPTJ, CCV, Ecurve. Communicate technical information to dealers, customers, team members, suppliers, and other units, support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers and develop and maintain keen understanding of internal and external customers’ needs. Execute MATLAB .m scripts and Python based CCAT automation test scripts for the common features and activities. Identifies and documents software defects, investigates field issues, Reviews and analyzes system specification and test results with the team. Telecommuting: Hybrid, 40% telecommuting allowed.
REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field and eight (8) years of experience as a Design Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Gas Engines; (2) CAN communications, measurement and configuration tools such as CANape and CANaslyzer; (3) Using HIL systems such as DSpace; (4) Writing test procedures and executing them on HIL; and (5) Debugging and aiding in software and electronic hardware issue resolution.
Summary Pay Range:
$127,587.00 – $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
