Description

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts & Sciences at Baylor University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in August 2026. Applications must be completed and received no later than November 1, 2025.

We are seeking candidates with research and teaching interests in any area of topology, broadly construed, who will contribute positively to the department's culture of outstanding research, innovative teaching, and dedicated service to our undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates will demonstrate a successful research record, plans for further developing their research program, and potential for obtaining external funding. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate their potential as a teacher and as a research mentor at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in mathematics or a related discipline is required by the time of appointment.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate their record of research accomplishment as well as their plans to further develop their research program.
  • Successful candidates will provide evidence of their potential to receive external grant funding.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate their potential/experience in teaching mathematics at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate their potential/experience in research mentorship at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

  • A current curriculum vitae;
  • A research statement addressing current/past research accomplishment as well as plans for development of research program;
  • A teaching statement addressing teaching/mentoring experience and philosophy;
  • At least three confidential letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses teaching (see additional instructions below);
  • Copy of transcript from highest-degree granting institution (an unofficial copy is acceptable for application);

Applicants will also complete a required, self-disclosed Religious Affiliation Form. Candidates invited for an on-campus interview will need to provide official transcripts.
