Description

Make a difference for national security by leading a team of dedicated professionals in supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) in developing and deploying the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software development and hosting environment for the National Defense Space Architecture (NDSA). These systems establish software development capabilities to securely and rapidly field mission applications developed by BMC3 ecosystem participants in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives.

SAIC has an immediate need for a Field Software Test Engineer with software (SW) & hardware (HW) development, integration, operations and maintenance experience for space and ground systems. We are looking for an innovative and motivated individual to be SAIC’s on-site representative to plan and execute testing, training, maintenance, and operate the BMC3 ground hardware and support NDSA operators. Our chosen representative work with the SDA operations team to assess, test and onboard code developed in legacy or external environments such that it meets the requirements for integration and deployment in the BMC3 ecosystem. Candidates must have experience with planning, executing, and testing software developmental programs with demonstrated ability to lead the software development team in support of program management to meet customer milestones.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Establish voice, messaging, and data communications for multiple-satellite engineering development units (eg SBC) of varying priorities and classifications.
  • Configuration and monitoring of displays for computer and network equipment during normal mission operations.
  • Multi-unit coordination and scheduling using custom software tools.
  • Ground system inputs toward overall engineering development and testing.
  • Determination and resolution of anomalous conditions.
  • Generation of downtime reports and other associated documentation for operational outages.
  • Provide inputs to process improvements.
  • Provide operational inputs to overall engineering development and testing.
  • Support to various operations status, engineering review, and problem boards.
  • Support to ground system development work, working groups, and test and checkout.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills, and Attributes

  • Bachelor's Degree and (5) years of experience.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current DoD TS/SCI.
  • Experience with solving complex and/or parallel problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work within a dynamic operational environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to pivot within a dynamic operational environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Experience with testing, development work, or system integration - Linux environment.
  • Experience with testing, development work, or system integration - coantiners Docker integration and K3S integration.
  • Experience with C#, C++, C, Rust, Java, JavaScript.
  • Collaborative mindset toward internal continuous process improvement and external customer interactions.

Desired Skills

  • Current DoD Top Secret Eligible for TS/SCI.
  • Experience with satellite operations.
