Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be tasked with developing design specifications, maturing design concepts, supporting procurement, and generating drawings and design documentation. This position requires interfacing with business project managers, technical project engineers, and equipment manufacturers, along with collaborating engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop design specifications and mature design concepts.
- Provide procurement support and generate necessary drawings and design documentation.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Execute analysis, design, test, or integration to support assignments related to reactor internal components.
- Perform fundamental engineering hand calculations and modeling.
- Develop designs for mechanical components and equipment.
- Assess causality and risk while maintaining focus.
- Prepare and present technical data to internal customers.
- Lead discussions and facilitate information exchange in a matrixed team environment.
- Ensure product designs meet all intended application and design requirements by collaborating with experts in other functional teams.
- Provide technical support through sourcing for fabricator assessment and interfaces.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that offers a competitive business advantage.
- Participate in and lead teams addressing specific organizational initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in design activities within a fabrication or manufacturing industry.
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
- Proficiency in testing procedures and CAD skills.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD tools.
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience in creating test specifications for specific systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design.
- Knowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing practices.
- Experience in analyzing and solving moderately complex design problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Knowledge of AWS codes.
- Proficiency with ANSYS FEA analysis.
- Experience in the BWR or PWR industry.
Work Environment
This position offers a fully remote work environment with a focus on heavy research and development. You will be engaged in next-generation R&D concepts critical to advancing nuclear technology and addressing sustainability and renewable energy challenges. Expect cross-functional communication, especially with the fabricator group, and involvement in assembly and fabrication drawings.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
