Senior Cloud Operations Engineer II (TraceLink, Inc. – Wilmington MA):

Responsible for the operations, maintenance and monitoring of TraceLink’s cloud-based software providing data services to the pharmaceutical and other industries.

Duties include:

  • Linux system administration to manage production and development infrastructure Linux EC2 instances including OS deployment, package management, user administration,
  • networking, NTP, DNS and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Develop and deploy scalable cloud architectures, including setting up virtual machines, storage solutions, and networking components using platforms such as AWS.
  • Automation of day-to-day activities with Python and Shell scripting and implement automated scaling.
  • Enhancement of Infrastructure Configuration Management tool like Puppet.
  • Monitor and manage cloud resources, ensuring availability, performance, and security using tools like Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana etc.
  • Analyze cloud system performance and implement improvements to optimize resource usage, cost, and response times. Utilize cloud monitoring tools to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Development and maintenance of Infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery solutions like Fault Injection Service (FIS) to ensure data integrity and availability in case of outages.
  • Microservices management and administration of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Track and analyze cloud expenditures, providing recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for cloud infrastructure configurations, deployments, and processes. Ensure documentation is updated regularly to reflect changes and new implementations
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to cloud infrastructure, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and service disruptions. Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Perform projects of enhancements like zookeeper upgrade, Rocky Linux migration from CentOS, migrate CloudFormation template to Terraform, ProxyDNS implementation etc.
  • Provide Knowledge transfer documents and mentor Junior team members as and when required.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, or any engineering or science field, and 5 years of experience in technical support and troubleshooting role. The employer will accept 3 years of study towards a Bachelor’s degree and two additional years of experience in technical support and troubleshooting role.

Experience must include the following:

  • 5 years of experience supporting J2EE web applications in a SaaS environment;
  • 5 years of experience designing, building and supporting modern agent-based logging systems (ELK) including integrating data sources and managing data collection agents;
  • 5 years of experience utilizing Linux/Unix systems administration including OS deployment, package management, user administration, networking, NTP, DNS and advanced troubleshooting;
  • 5 years of experience with virtualization through the use of AWS EC2;
  • 5 years of experience utilizing container-based technologies including Docker and AWS ECS/EKS;
  • 5 years of experience with Python scripting experience in at least one common Linux shell scripting language (BASH, SH, CSH, KSH);
  • 5 years of experience with Apache, nginx, haproxy clamav, rsyslogd, puppet/chef, SSH/SFTP, and vi/vim/nano editors.

$176,738 / Year
