CBC P.E.I. is looking for an experienced journalist with exceptional editing and critical thinking skills to join our digital team as a copy editor.
Reporting to the senior producer of digital, the successful candidate will be an editorial leader with keen news judgment and an uncompromising attention to detail. They will possess a sharp eye for diverse stories reflecting contemporary Canada and P.E.I.'s evolving landscape, functioning as an editorial leader with high quality standards.
As copy editor, you will ensure the accurate and efficient delivery of content across CBC P.E.I.’s digital platforms. Responsibilities include writing and editing engaging copy, crafting sharp headlines, and utilizing visual storytelling tools to package rich multimedia content. You will ensure our digital platforms showcase a range of content, from survival information to the context that helps a reader make sense of the news making headlines.
You will be comfortable making independent editorial decisions in accordance with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices, ensuring our work upholds the principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. You are familiar with the legal issues that can arise in news coverage, and have a demonstrated grasp of the overall CBC News digital strategy.
You will put the audience at the centre of your decision-making, ensuring our news content resonates with a local audience and connects P.E.I. to the rest of Canada. You care about the people you work with, and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive workplace culture. You strive to broaden the range of perspectives and experiences reflected in our news content, especially that have been traditionally underrepresented in the media.
As an experienced mentor, you are a thoughtful coach and collaborative team player, someone who deeply enjoys helping journalists develop their writing skills and produce content of the highest quality. You stay on top of the latest digital storytelling trends, and thrive in an ever-evolving news environment.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
