Job Description

The Autonomy and Navigation Technology (ANT) Center, located at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson AFB, is looking for a motivated and talented individual to serve as an Embedded Software Engineer. The successful candidate will have graduated from a major university or college with at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or closely related field, with a 3.0 GPA or higher. The applicants’ experience level will decide the level of the position and salary level. The candidate must be a self-sufficient and an independent professional.

Essential Job Responsibilities

The Embedded Software Engineer will be a key member of the research staff supporting ANT Center faculty and graduate students to support and drive the tooling of the Center’s cutting-edge research and development projects.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with faculty, students and research engineers to develop new algorithms and tooling that support the various autonomy and advanced navigation research projects
  • Integrate various technologies, such as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) hardware and software, to support specific research needs
  • Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results
  • Ability to work in-person and remote

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen, with active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Experience with software-defined radio peripherals such as USRP.
  • Experience with embedded systems design targeting low power ARM CPUs.
  • Experience with web-based graphical user interface design
  • Experience with internet protocol (IP) stack development for command and control of embedded systems
  • Computer aided mechanical design using SolidWorks C/C++, Python, programming languages
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • The candidate should demonstrate a hands-on approach to problem-solving and must be willing to actively participate in the evaluation of algorithm and system performance.
