Job Description for Lead R&D Engineer:

With the development of our business in China, we are expanding Honeywell UOP R&D in China and currently looking for new talents to join our China R&D team. This a Lead R&D Engineer for catalyst development and improvement. You will collaborate with business, tech service, sales, and catalyst experts to understand our customer needs, evaluate catalyst performance, identify opportunities of existing catalyst improvement or new catalyst development opportunities. You will also have the opportunities to define new product requirement and lead the development projects.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Catalyst Knowledge - Understand UOP process and catalyst products for refining, petrochemicals, natural gas, and green energy industries.
  • Catalyst Problem Solving - Access catalyst performance issues and causes. Collaborate with UOP global R&D team to provide mitigation solution.
  • Growth Supporting - Identify customer needs in and generate ideas of new catalyst opportunities of catalyst improvement or new catalyst production development. Exploring new catalyst technology and new catalyst product in new growth industries beyond refining, petrochemicals, natural gas, green energy and beyond.
  • UOP Catalyst Product Localization - Lead/support UOP catalyst localization.
  • Experiment Design and Data Analysis - Reaction pilot plant design of experiment (DoE) and experiment result analysis.
  • Project Management - Leading and managing projects from initiation to completion, including internal catalyst R&D projects and well as collaboration projects with external partners.
  • Collaboration and Communication - Working with cross functional teams, including business leaders, sales, engineers, and operations, as well as acting as a key focal person and working with global/regional R&D catalyst teams within UOP.
  • Continuous Improvement - Finding ways to improve UOP catalyst technology efficiency, performance and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education - Master’s degree or above in chemical engineering, or applied chemistry, or material science.
  • Experience - At least 8 years work experience in chemical industries or new catalysts development and (or) new product introduction in refinery or petrochemical industry. Experience of biomass conversion (to fuels or chemicals) or methanol synthesis is a plus.
  • Skills – Strong analytical and problem solving, proficiency in process simulation software, chemical process unit design, and project management. Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Proficient in both oral and written English.
