Your Role: Own the Challenge/Take on the Journey

  • You will be part of an efficient and innovative power electronics design team in R&D department of ABB drive product, closely coordinate with software, mechanical, and verification teams, to develop the power unit of motor drives in projects.
  • You will start with requirement analysis and concept design, implement the circuit by component selection and schematic. You will guide the layout engineers to make the PCBA design. You will carry out R&D tests and follow up the verification test results, debug and solve the issues when needed, to achieve the final product release.
  • You will be involved to track world-wide cutting-edge technologies of power electronics, estimate alternatives, and integrate the best into your design.
  • You need have architecture thinking, to consider constraints such as dimension, product cost, performance, reliability, EMC, schedule to implementation, etc. to fulfill our commitment to customers in diversified field application.
  • You will be the key person in R&D team to contact with suppliers in many categories, provide clear design requirements to them, make decision based on technical judgment, business benefit including cost, schedule and quality . You will work with souring team, understand the big picture and trend, and drive the component strategy with clear technical analysis.

What it takes to Run what runs the world

  • Master’s degree in power electronics or other related electrical engineering majors.
  • More than 2 years’ work experience in motor drive, servo drive, or other power conversion equipment product design.
  • Excellent Knowledge of more than 2 of the following areas: IGBT module, protection and gate driver; Passive component design including power chokes and capacitors; SMPS design; EMC and RFI filter design; Drive product norm and standards including LVD, UL, and EMC; Integration of mechanical and electrical for product build-up;
  • Knowledge of the following areas is a plus: Understanding of production, design for manufacturability and testability; Reliability against temperature, humidity, vibration, corrosive gas, etc. Understanding of the PCB layout best practices for power conversion products .
  • Lab Experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, meters, function generators and experiment setup and measurement
  • Familiar with one or more simulation tools, including Matlab/Simulink, Pspice, etc.
  • Fluent English skills to read literature and communicate across the global organization.
