Full Stack Software Engineer

AirHelp

Build Products That Serve Millions. Ship Daily. Own Real Impact.

We're hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to help us build and scale core systems that power AirHelp’s mission: helping airline passengers around the world receive the compensation they deserve.

This isn’t just another feature factory role. You’ll take full ownership of technical challenges that directly affect the experience of millions of users and the productivity of our internal legal and operations teams.

If you're motivated by shipping fast, solving real problems, and working in a high-trust, low-politics environment where your output actually matters, this is for you.

What We Work With

  • Languages & Frameworks: Node.js, TypeScript, React, Ruby on Rails, Python, Go
  • DevOps & Infra: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Data: PostgreSQL
  • Tooling: ELK, Grafana, Sentry, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.)
  • Modern UI Stack (bonus if you know it): React Hook Form, Zustand, Tailwind, Vite, Zod, TanStack

What you’ll do:

  • Ship production-ready code daily across backend and frontend systems that process claims, automate legal workflows, and manage global payouts.
  • Design and scale services for performance, uptime, and long-term maintainability - measured in milliseconds, not abstract metrics.
  • Improve internal developer velocity by contributing to tools, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Influence architectural decisions and lead initiatives to modernize or optimize critical parts of the platform.
  • Mentor peers and drive engineering standards through code reviews, testing discipline, and documentation.

What you'll deliver in first 12 months:

  • Help ship and expand Document Hub - our intelligent document storage system - by building robust, scalable APIs and integrating it with multiple internal services, replacing legacy solutions.
  • Contribute to the rollout of Rule Engine - implement and evolve logic that dynamically defines what documents are required, enabling smarter, faster claim processing.
  • Implement just-in-time document validation - so that users are only asked for relevant documents at the right moment, based on case context and Rule Engine logic.
  • Improve developer productivity - by contributing to our Node.js backend stack, simplifying testing and debugging flows, and improving CI/CD pipelines used by your fellow engineers.
  • Leave systems better than you found them - by modernizing critical services, improving observability, and helping define our approach to testing, logging, and documentation.

What sets you apart:

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on full-stack development experience.
  • Strong skills in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Solid understanding of relational DBs (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Comfort working across the entire SDLC: from problem framing to deploying and monitoring production.
  • Ownership mindset: You don’t wait for tickets - you find problems and solve them.
  • Strong testing discipline (unit, integration, e2e).
  • Experience in cloud-based environments (especially AWS).
  • Clear communication, constructive feedback, and a focus on outcomes.
