Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Job Description

As a Packaging Engineer, you will design and develop innovative packaging solutions for new and existing products, ensuring they are functional, cost-effective, and compliant with regulations. You will conduct rigorous packaging testing and validation to guarantee durability, safety, and performance during transportation and storage. Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to source materials and optimize packaging processes, supporting sustainability initiatives by identifying and implementing eco-friendly packaging alternatives. Maintain documentation and specifications for all packaging components, troubleshoot packaging issues, and provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams. Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging for new and existing products ensuring functionality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulations.
• Conduct packaging testing and validation to ensure durability, safety, and performance.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to source materials and optimize packaging processes.
• Support sustainability initiatives by identifying and implementing eco-friendly packaging alternatives.
• Maintain documentation and specifications for all packaging components.
• Troubleshoot packaging issues and provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in packaging design and development, preferably in the food industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software and packaging design tools.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with carbons and corrugated packaging is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Work Environment

The work environment includes approximately 400 employees at the East Hanover site, with most working a hybrid schedule (2-3 days per week onsite) or remote. Preference is for candidates to come onsite 1 day per week, but fully remote candidates may be considered if they are the right fit. The company offers free lunch for all employees and consultants Tuesday through Thursday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $52.88/hr.
