Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in corporate accounting and general ledger management, with a proven track record in financial reporting and compliance. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting strategic decision-making within the organization.
Duties
- Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accurate asset and liability records.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
- Prepare detailed reports for management that summarize financial performance and highlight key metrics.
- Utilize Sage software to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency within the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar role within corporate accounting.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, general ledger reconciliation, payroll processing, and accounts payable functions.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage, is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of Texas sales tax computations and monthly filings
- New Mexico and Oklahoma sales tax is a plus
- Proven QuickBooks experience (intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop)
