ROLE PURPOSE
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Manager, Analytical Science to lead our global analytics and measurement science function. This leader will drive excellence in analytical characterization and measurement to support innovation, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across our food ingredient portfolio.
As a key member of the Science & Innovation community, you will shape the strategic direction of our analytical capabilities, build and lead a high-performing team of experts, and serve as a thought leader both within the organization and across the broader scientific community. You will play a vital role in accelerating product development, enabling data-driven decision-making, and establishing best-in-class laboratory operations.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, inspire, and develop a global team of analytical scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Establish and lead the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Analytical Chemistry, ensuring world-class capability in characterization and measurement science aligned with business priorities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Research & Innovation, Application Development, Regulatory Affairs, Platform Leaders, and Operations to deliver breakthrough innovation and ingredient excellence.
- Oversee the design, validation, and implementation of advanced analytical methods across the portfolio, ensuring data integrity, precision, and speed.
- Manage and optimize laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO, and other applicable quality and safety standards.
- Advance our data science initiatives, integrating predictive analytics, AI/ML tools, and automation to transform how we generate insights and deliver value to customers.
- Represent the company externally by engaging with academic, regulatory, and industry bodies to build our reputation, influence standards, and stay at the forefront of emerging technologies.
- Drive innovation by identifying and applying next-generation analytical tools and techniques that enhance our competitive edge.
Skills and Experience (Manager):
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in the food, beverage, or ingredient industry.
- Recognized expertise in analytical techniques, including chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, and rheology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams (10+ professionals) and align scientific strategy with business goals.
- Proven success in developing and deploying robust analytical methods in support of innovation, quality, and compliance.
- Strong external presence within the scientific community with an active network across academia, industry consortia, and regulatory bodies.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, explain complex technical concepts to non-experts, and adapt communication styles across audiences.
- Experienced in budget management, resource planning, and performance management.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and innovative thinking to resolve complex technical challenges and elevate scientific standards.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate trends, assess emerging technologies, and translate scientific advances into business value
Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.
When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.
The salary range for this position is: $115,000 - $181,000.
