The Data Architect Sr. designs, implements, and optimizes database solutions for the varied business purposes. The Data Architect Sr. provides an enterprise-level, future thinking data strategy while maintaining and optimizing the current data landscape. Key responsibilities include design and implementation of complex Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart design patterns (star schema, snowflake schema, entity relationship, and dimensional data models); evaluation and selection of database platforms and technology; design and implementation of data ingestion and data flow patterns; development and maintenance of logical and physical data models; optimizing data storage and retrieval for performance and security. Additionally, this position works with business owners to define, design, and develop requirements given time and budget constraints. This position reports to SVP, Enterprise Architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Works with business owners and other development team members to design and implement data solutions to support new features and products
• Understands the company’s key data and/or systems architectures, including how these systems fit within the overall business
• Documents and maintains Enterprise Data Architecture diagrams, including physical server layouts, logical connections, data flows, and application integration points
• Documents and maintains database standards and architecture guidelines
• Develops and maintains logical and physical data models and ERDs
• Evaluates and selects appropriate database platforms and technology, considering functionality, purpose, ease of integration, and cost
• Designs and develops a future-state data architecture and draft plans to implement, including migration to cloud-based platforms and upgrade of existing data solutions
• Determines data integration and data flow patterns, including ETL/ELT processes and real-time data pipelines
• Optimizes current and future data solutions, including storage, data distribution, and performance optimization
• Ensures the security of the enterprise data by developing and implementing secure data practices
• Participates in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each delivery adheres to original vision and adherence to standards and architecture guidelines
• Mentors other technical staff on the team
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting databases and data technology
• Extensive experience in design and implementation of complex Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse and Data Mart life cycle and design patterns (dimensional modelling, star schema, snowflake schema, entity relationship and dimensional data model)
• Proven experience in upgrading prior versions of MS SQL Server to current versions, including migration to cloud-based SQL Server offerings
• Experience in design and development using an ETL/ELT platform such as SSIS, Data Factory, Talend, or Matillion for data integration and data pipelines
• Experience developing real-time data streams and pipelines using cloud-based tools and techniques such as AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, AWS Lambda, or Azure Functions
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Node.js or Python, especially in its use in serverless functions
• Experience building and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure PaaS products such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances, Data Factory, and Azure Synapse
• Experience with cloud-based Data Warehouse platforms, such as Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Databricks, or Amazon Redshift
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking with strong focus on problem solving and converting business requirements into solution specification, design, and solution
• Highly skilled and motivated team player with demonstrated success communicating at various levels, up to and including C-level individuals, with superb interpersonal skills -
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated success working well under pressure and meeting deadlines. Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with Object Oriented designs, middleware architectures, microservices, distributed computing solutions, and API design best practices preferred
• Familiarity with Reporting and Visualization tools such as SSRS, Power BI, and Tableau preferred
• Capable of setting up and configuring a continuous integration environment. Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD preferred

Pay Range Details

$111,850.00 - $177,842.00 Annually

The actual compensation offered will depend on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This range represents the reasonable minimum and maximum salary the company expects to pay for this position.
