The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join the expert team trusted by the Royal Navy to keep submarines operational and submariners safe by delivering engineering analysis, investigations, and design change support.

Day-to-day, your focus will be planning and executing tasks across a wide variety of submarine systems providing opportunity to learn lots about the enterprise and mechanical engineering.

• Tackle complex engineering challenges through deep technical investigations and insightful analysis
• Deliver smart, practical solutions backed by clear documentation and expert knowledge
• Lead projects from bid to delivery—on time, on budget, and to spec
• Engage directly with customers and stakeholders to share outcomes and shape solutions
• Stay sharp: continuously build your skills and stay ahead in your technical field

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home

Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer

• Mechanical Engineering background with hands-on technical expertise
• Proven industry experience in highly regulated sectors—defence, maritime, aerospace, oil & gas, or rail
• Skilled in project management with strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Ambitious and self-driven, with a passion for taking charge of your career growth

Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer

• Degree or equivalent HND/HNC in a STEM discipline.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
