THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a Senior Data Scientist who specializes in customer segmentation to partner closely with Marketing, Consumer Research and Insights, Product, and senior executives to design data science solutions that enable a deeper understanding of our customers. In this role you will develop machine learning algorithms for customer segmentation that are robust and scalable and drive decision-making across our sports betting and online casino platforms. This role is critical to helping the business understand needs and behaviors of existing and future customers.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN

Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Build customer segments using supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including clustering, classification, regression, and anomaly detection that can be scaled to our entire customer base
  • Model user behavior and lifecycle trends to support customer acquisition, engagement, retention and promotional strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple teams across the business including Marketing, Consumer Research and Insights, Product
  • Build scalable, automated pipelines using Python, SQL, and cloud-native tools (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Present complex data insights to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and business context.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and set best practices for segmentation methods within the team

THE STATS

What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, segmentation modeling or other relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of customer segmentation, survey methodology, look alike modeling.
  • Deep experience with statistical methods and robust inference. Ability to draw insights and conclusions from data to inform business decisions
  • Ability to partner with multiple cross functional teams across the business
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R; experience with pandas, statsmodels, scikit-learn, or similar libraries.
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets and data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Ability to communicate complex models and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

The applicable salary range for this position is $149,000 - $186,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
