We are looking for an RePower Program: Product Engineering Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Fridley, MN or Columbus, IN location.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Drive Product Development Excellence: You will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of product development activities, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and stakeholder expectations across the full product lifecycle.
  • Enhance Product Reliability: By applying failure mode avoidance techniques, you’ll proactively identify and mitigate potential risks, improving product robustness and reducing costly late-stage issues.
  • Inform Design Through Simulation and Analysis: Your use of modeling and simulation tools will guide design decisions, ensuring that products meet functional requirements at system, sub-system, and component levels.
  • Ensure Seamless System Integration: You’ll manage complex product interfaces and integration plans, enabling smooth interaction across system boundaries and reducing integration-related failures.
  • Solve Complex Product Issues: You will lead structured problem-solving efforts, identifying root causes and implementing data-driven solutions that protect the customer and prevent recurrence.
  • Validate Product Performance: Through rigorous verification and validation planning, you’ll ensure that products meet or exceed performance expectations, balancing risk and capability throughout development.
  • Translate Needs into Actionable Requirements: You’ll convert stakeholder needs into clear, verifiable system requirements, maintaining traceability and managing changes to minimize scope creep and resource strain.
  • Promote Knowledge Sharing and Technical Clarity: By producing high-quality technical documentation, you’ll support cross-functional collaboration, accelerate onboarding, and preserve institutional knowledge.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong Stakeholder Collaboration: Effectively gather and integrate input from cross-functional stakeholders—including technical managers, engineers, and suppliers—to inform sound, quality-driven product decisions.
  • Confident, Quality-Focused Decision-Making: Apply your academic foundation and practical experience to make timely, informed decisions that keep projects moving forward without compromising quality.
  • Mastery of Engineering Processes and Tools: Utilize and continuously improve core processes like Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, FIRG, and tools such as 7-step problem solving and design review checklists to support high-quality outcomes.
  • Independent Project Leadership: Take ownership of smaller-scale projects or complex components with full accountability, even in ambiguous situations, demonstrating initiative and technical leadership.
  • Process Improvement Mindset: Lead the development and refinement of engineering processes and systems within your functional area to drive efficiency, consistency, and innovation.
  • Team Coordination and Mentorship: Direct the work of technicians and interns, and support knowledge transfer to less experienced engineers, helping to build team capability and cohesion.
  • Technical Influence and Guidance: Provide direction and support within project teams, influencing technical decisions and contributing to the team’s overall success through your growing subject matter expertise.
  • Specialization and Depth of Knowledge: Operate as a recognized expert in your discipline or product area, continuously developing your technical depth and applying it to solve complex engineering challenges.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience. This position will support cost reduction, new Customer option requests, and new product development on power generation products (2 - 3.5MWe) in the North American market. The work will involve requirements collection, design and/or work with designers on new component creation, validation plan and execution, and product release to production.

Primary location Fridley, MN, would also consider Columbus, IN.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this role is $8,900/month (subject to applicable withholdings), plus benefits such as health and wellness while in the returnship program.
