Position Description

Contributes to important data quality projects by performing basic data cleaning tasks, research, and documentation. Works with records in both physical and digital formats. Independently completes assignments following specific instructions after completing training. Assists in documenting workflows and standard operating procedures to support continuous improvement. Provides courteous and professional support to internal stakeholders by responding to data-related inquiries. This position is part of the Quality Management Team within the Right of Way Division’s Center for Excellence and is based on site at the TxDOT Stassney Campus in Austin, TX.

Essential Duties:

  • Cleans and validates data by correcting incomplete or inaccurate entries, removing duplicates, and identifying missing information.
  • Enters and updates accurate data in multiple internal databases and content management systems.
  • Assists with uploading and organizing both digital and physical records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Responds to internal inquiries related to data quality and record accuracy, providing clear and professional support.
  • Collaborates with team members to identify and resolve data discrepancies and improve data integrity.
  • Documents workflows, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance processes to support continuous improvement.
  • Participates in team meetings and contributes to discussions on data quality initiatives and best practices.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel and other tools to analyze and organize data.
  • Maintains confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive or proprietary information.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.

Other Conditions:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include
  • a trade/vocational school.
  • Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may
  • use power tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or high school program with coursework in business, information systems, data management, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and entering data.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an office, administrative, or support role.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel; experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and contribute to workflow documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Interest in public service, transportation, or infrastructure-related work is a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization tools is a plus.

  • Demonstrates a customer service mindset when responding to inquiries and supporting internal teams.
  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Maintains a safe and respectful work environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Sitting - prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
