The Department of Financial Services, Division of Accounting Services, has an opening for Accounting Coordinator in Franklin County.

Characteristics of the job: Under the direction of the manager of the division of accounting services, performs a variety of professional accounting and fiscal duties related to contractual payment obligations for the Kentucky Court of Justice.

Examples of Duties or Responsibilities of this Classification:

  • Creates PRC and PRCC documents to pay judicial branch invoices.
  • Reviews invoices for compliance with contract requirements and for compliance with KCOJ policy.
  • Ensures requesting departments process invoices in compliance with AOC policies and procedures.
  • Researches and resolves any invoice discrepancies.
  • Notifies vendors of invoice rejection and reason for rejection.
  • Interacts with vendors when required to promote resolution regarding invoice and, or payment issues.
  • Selects appropriate accounting templates, object codes and location codes in Emars to allow for consistent reporting.
  • Effects disbursements in compliance with KCOJ policies and procedures.
  • Assists with audit requests related to the accounts’ payable function.
  • Stamps, sorts, matches, and files invoices, purchase orders and other accounting documents.
  • Maintains auditable records and files, communicates with elected and non-elected officials as needed.
  • Monitors procedures related to year-end closing and ensures accurate transition to new year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Related Field

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have 1 year of related experience

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Associate degree in Business Related Field and Three (3) YRS of related experience OR HS Diploma and Five (5) YRS of Related Experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting. Some travel may be required.
