We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

  • Be the expert in hot air rework: You'll be the go-to person for our Airvac hot air rework processes, especially for complex circuit boards (PWAs) with components like BGAs and fine-pitch parts. You'll set up and maintain the programs and settings for this equipment.
  • Support daily production: Provide engineering support for our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production line. This means troubleshooting issues, fine-tuning settings, and making sure our products meet high-quality standards.
  • Manage SMT equipment: Develop and maintain programs for SMT machines like pick-and-place, screen printers, and reflow ovens. You'll adjust these settings to hit our quality and production goals.
  • Create manufacturing processes: Develop processes for building micro-electronic modules and assemblies, including designing fixtures that make assembly easier, reduce errors, and improve quality.
  • Improve production: Continuously look for ways to make our production operations better. This includes increasing machine uptime and speed, lowering costs, and improving overall reliability.
  • Solve mechanical problems: Diagnose and fix mechanical issues by reviewing diagrams, manuals, and consulting with suppliers or other experts. Your goal is to prevent problems from happening again by finding and resolving the root cause.
  • Document processes: Create clear work instructions for both new and existing processes.
  • Analyze and improve reliability: Conduct various analyses to identify reliability risks and justify spending to improve reliability. This could involve:
    • Predicting reliability.
    • Managing failure reporting, analysis, and corrective actions.
    • Studying vulnerabilities and prioritizing actions to reduce risks.
    • Analyzing production data to spot trends and create plans to fix common issues.
    • Setting baselines and limits for key equipment.
  • Train and support: Help and train maintenance, production, and other technicians with technical issues and troubleshooting.
  • Promote safety: Participate in safety programs, follow all safety policies, and always work safely using the right protective gear.
  • Collaborate and communicate: Work effectively with other teams and communicate clearly with everyone from operators to leadership.
  • Drive change: Be a positive force for change, encouraging good behaviors and suggesting continuous improvements and cost savings.
  • Team up for success: Work with different departments to achieve our production goals.

The day-to-day

  • Attending or leading daily production meetings.
  • Developing thermal profiles for rework.
  • Checking rework profiles and making sure the right tools are used.
  • Creating or updating step-by-step instructions for specific rework procedures.
  • Reviewing performance data such as yield, first-pass yield, downtime, and rework rates.
  • Working closely with maintenance, quality, and production supervisors.
  • Physically checking SMT (Surface Mount Technology) lines and AirVac stations.
  • Monitoring machine status for printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
  • Ensuring SMT programs and stencils are ready for upcoming production runs.
  • Troubleshooting equipment problems like printer misalignment, feeder errors, and reflow profile issues.
  • Optimizing machine settings and placement accuracy.
  • Monitoring solder paste usage and keeping stencils clean.
  • Investigating why defects or reworks happen.
  • Participating in discussions with the Material Review Board (MRB) or failure analysis teams.
  • Putting corrective actions into place (for example, fixing component orientation or providing feedback on PCB layouts).
  • Maintaining and updating process documents like Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and reflow profiles.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical Electrical Engineering (or a related field).

  • 2+ years of experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Process Improvement: Proven ability to improve and optimize production processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled at analyzing complex problems, collecting data, and developing effective solutions.
  • Technical Comprehension: Ability to understand and interpret complex technical documents and engineering drawings.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working effectively with engineering and other teams to achieve goals.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including developing clear technical documentation.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using MS Office Suite, MS Windows, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Work Ethic: Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • US Citizenship required (this is a US Government position).
