Senior Technical Program Manager, AWS Solutions Hardware Development

Amazon

DESCRIPTION

Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment that's more startup than a big company. We will need to tackle problems that span a variety of domains: computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, real-time and distributed systems.

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and, given the size of this initiative, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, we guarantee that you will learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage cross-functional project schedules
  • Write and manage product technical requirements
  • Write and manage DFMEA / NUDD risk lists
  • Lead recurring and ad-hoc meetings
  • Look around corners to identify resource and technical gaps
  • Deep dive with hardware and firmware engineers, and operations managers to understand surprises and create actionable paths to success

A day in the life

Daily activities are highly varied. Some days will be focused forward creating project requirements and draft schedules and budgets. Some days will be focused on current technical, supply chain, or logistical challenges. Some days will be focused on celebrating current milestone achievements with the team. Other days will be spent looking to the past, reviewing prototype builds, beta tests, product builds and launches, pilot launches, and field failures. Most days will be a mix of all of the above.
