CBC News is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our CBC Local Ontario Finance team at the Toronto Broadcast Centre. We are a 24-7 breaking news organization, with reach across television, radio, online, and mobile platforms.

The Senior Analyst will be a key member of the CBC Local Ontario Finance team and will work directly with operational leaders. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance this position will be responsible for handling all financial aspects (cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting) for the News Digital and Radio Programs.

Key Tasks:

  • Planning, budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and business reporting.
  • Coordinate, track, control, authorize and reconcile expenditures.
  • Prepare detailed analysis of business operations, including budget variances, recommending and implementing courses of action to maintain budget integrity.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with management.
  • Prepare ad-hoc and monthly financial reports for review by Senior Manager, and for discussion with Managing Editors & Senior Directors.
  • Participate in departmental process improvement projects and financial systems implementations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Accounting Diploma or Degree and/or relevant experience is required.
  • Active Student of CPA Accounting program or Designation is preferred.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and staff including Senior Executives.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Proven success in analyzing business operations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Superior investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.
  • Business partnering approach. Open and direct communication style, good listening skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications. SAP experience is an asset.
