Position PurposeUnder the general direction of the Head of Collection Management and Preservation, the Library Collections Operations Manager will provide leadership, planning, and oversight over the circulating physical collections as well as assist with holistic planning for collection locations across library spaces. This includes managing routine shelving operations and withdrawal workflows, training and supervising student employees, assisting with Dartmouth Libraries’ environmental monitoring program, processing newly acquired materials, and coordinating collections care efforts in concert with departmental colleagues at the Library Collections Storage Facility (LCSF). This role is responsible for supervising and managing a small team of full-time employees.
This is a fully onsite position.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities● 2 plus years of increasingly responsible staff management experience.
Preferred Qualifications● Experience working in an academic library environment.

Key Accountabilities
DescriptionSupervises and performs day-to-day activities in Baker-Berry Library stacks; including: supporting routine shelving, completing collection shifts and transfers; maintaining physical and online stacks wayfinding, processing newly cataloged materials and commercial binding lots.

DescriptionCreates and compiles collection reports and data sets for library staff to assist with collections space planning and decision-making across a number of library collections spaces including Baker-Berry and the LCSF. Prepares items for withdrawal or transfer to high-density storage facility. Works with staff in Cataloging and Metadata Services and at the LCSF to ensure that information pertaining to collections and holdings are accurate and up-to-date.

DescriptionHires, trains, schedules, evaluates, and fully supervises two staff members and student employees.
Percentage Of Time20%
DescriptionWorks to mitigate environmental threats to library collections by supporting environmental monitoring, integrated pest management, and disaster preparedness workflows. Is an active member of the Libraries’ disaster recovery team.
Percentage Of Time15%
DescriptionServes on Library committees and task forces contributing to the stewardship of the Library’s collections. Actively engages in professional development activities.
