At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds.
We’re looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we’re searching for a Senior Backend Developer in our Stockholm office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
As a Senior Backend Developer at Viaplay, you will play a key role in shaping the experience for our existing subscribers. The team is part of the product area Retention with the mission to create the best user experience for our existing customers.
The team’s mission is centered around content discovery. We want to make the app feel fresh and lift our great content in the best way possible. The backend stack is primarily Node.js, but we value a full-stack mindset, so experience or interest in React and AWS is a big plus. You'll be joining a collaborative environment with frequent testing, iteration, and data-driven decisions.
In this role, you’ll join a cross-functional team and will work with developers on all the different platforms. This setup gives you a unique opportunity to shape technical decisions and take ownership of the backend domain - but it also requires a high level of drive, accountability, and a strong desire to collaborate across disciplines.
Because the team is part of a larger product area, you’ll also be expected to maintain alignment with other backend developers and engineers across teams. That means communicating proactively, sharing context, and ensuring that architectural decisions are consistent and well-integrated across the ecosystem.
The right person for this role is motivated by more than just shipping features. You’re someone who’s curious, thoughtful, and driven to solve real user problems as part of a team that shares ownership of its mission. We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:
We’re especially interested in people who care about solving real user problems, not just building software - and who see the value in shared ownership, thoughtful discussion, and continuous learning.
If this feels like your kind of challenge, make sure you apply by attaching your CV here – you may also want to add your LinkedIn profile. Please don’t send us your application via email because we won’t be able to accept it. We do, however, welcome any questions you may have about this particular position.
