RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is accountable for retention, engagement, training, coaching and mentoring plant professionals and new supervisors. This is a developmental position that will prepare the incumbent for future opportunities in Human Resources roles.

  • Responsible for the overall process for hiring office hourly and plant hourly production team members including recruiting, interviewing, placement, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Maintains positive Company-employee labor relations while providing efficient, fair, and equitable use of plant and safety work rules.
  • Determines and prioritizes training needs for the facility.
  • Provides leadership for employee engagement initiatives while championing inclusion and diversity.
  • Provides leadership and development to HR admins, HR technicians and other HR office staff.
  • Oversees activities associated with employees during the introductory period for purposes of retention including orientation, evaluations, coaching, and termination when appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations, company policy, procedures, and employment eligibility.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Human Resource Manager when absent.
  • Handles the effective administration of safety and security programs, policies, and procedures under the direction of the HR manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of employee relations.
  • Strong pattern of initiative, achievement and leadership.
  • Proven problem solving, decision making, persuasive, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred

  • Bilingual Skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/processing environment.
  • Experience working in a union environment.

LOCATION: Hayward, CA

A comprehensive relocation package to the Hayward, CA area will be offered, if required.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the HR Generalist - Bayfront - Columbus role is between $63,075 - $113,100 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
