Role purpose

The Senior Manager Digital and Content is responsible for driving and delivering Vodacom Congo’s consumer digital engagement and transformation through an innovative portfolio of digital content services. This includes end-to-end ownership of propositions across Video, Music, Gaming, E-learning, Health, Lifestyle, E-commerce, Digital Advertising, and management of the Vodacom Super App on the commercial side. The role is central to generating digital revenue streams, increasing mobile data usage as a reason to consume, and reinforcing customer loyalty and stickiness within the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

A. Core Responsibilities

1. Digital Content Strategy & Proposition Development

  • Develop and manage a robust digital content strategy aligned with Vodacom’s broader digital transformation and data monetization objectives.
  • Identify and curate high-impact content offerings tailored to the local market (e.g., Nollywood, Congolese music, regional games, localized learning platforms).
  • Define pricing models (freemium, subscription, transactional), bundling strategies, and value-added services to drive customer adoption.

2. Platform & Partner Management

  • Manage partnerships with global and local content providers, aggregators, and tech enablers (e.g., VOD platforms, gaming studios, edtech startups, health apps).
  • Oversee onboarding, integration, performance monitoring, and renewal of content partner contracts.
  • Ensure digital content platforms (USSD, App, Web, VAS channels) offer seamless user experiences and are regularly enhanced.

3. Vodacom Super App Commercial Management

  • Lead the commercial roadmap, content integration, and user engagement strategy for the Vodacom Super App.
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, and CVM teams to optimize user journeys, digital services integration, and cross-functional monetization within the Super App.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for engagement, transactions, retention, and in-app revenue.
  • Support marketing initiatives and campaigns to grow Super App adoption and embed it as the central hub for digital lifestyle services.

4. Digital Revenue Growth & Data Consumption

  • Develop and drive monetization plans that link content engagement to mobile data usage and revenue growth.
  • Identify and implement upsell and cross-sell opportunities across segments and usage profiles.
  • Lead initiatives to promote daily digital habits that encourage recurring data usage.

5. Customer Engagement & Campaigns

  • Collaborate with CVM, Digital Marketing, and Brand teams to build integrated content engagement campaigns.
  • Use gamification, social engagement, influencer marketing, and contextual offers to increase time spent on platforms.
  • Launch content loyalty program and engagement metrics that reward repeat usage and customer interaction.

6. Innovation & Localization

  • Identify emerging digital trends (e.g., AI content curation, mobile-first gaming, microlearning) and assess their applicability to the DRC market.
  • Champion local content creation through partnerships, competitions, and co-branding initiatives.
  • Leverage user-generated content and community-building features to foster engagement.

B. Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Track KPIs such as monthly active users, subscription conversions, digital revenue, average revenue per user (ARPU), and content-specific data usage.
  • Perform cohort analysis and user segmentation to tailor content strategies to behavioral trends.
  • Continuously review and optimize digital content journeys and user funnels.

C. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with IT, Data & Analytics, and Network teams to ensure stable, secure, and optimized content delivery.
  • Liaise with Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to ensure all content is in line with licensing, IP, and policy standards.
  • Engage with Consumer Segment Heads (Mass, Youth, HVC) to ensure alignment of content strategy with target audience needs.
  • Partner with mobile money and digital lifestyle teams to integrate content with fintech and lifestyle platforms.
  • Work closely with the Super App technical and marketing teams to coordinate end-to-end delivery and commercial success.

D. Autonomy and Decision-Making

Without Prior Approval:

  • Identify new content opportunities and propose partnerships.
  • Launch tactical campaigns and engagement experiments.
  • Approve internal test/pilot releases and segment-specific propositions.

With Prior Approval:

  • Sign long-term strategic content or revenue-share agreements.
  • Launch above-the-line content campaigns.
  • Modify key platform configurations or investment-heavy initiatives.

Core competencies, Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Education & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital media, Marketing, Telecoms, or a related field
  • Certification in digital transformation, platform management, or agile delivery is an asset
  • Strong understanding of digital trends, mobile ecosystems, and monetization models
  • Proficient in digital tools (CMS, analytics platforms, API integrations, mobile content delivery)

Experience:

  • Minimum 6–8 years in digital content, VAS, media, or platform-based services
  • Demonstrated experience in launching consumer-facing digital services and managing partners
  • Proven track record in revenue growth and platform engagement
  • Experience managing or supporting Super App or lifestyle hub platforms is a plus
